GREEN BUZZARD RELEASE NEW SINGLE ‘DREAM IN/DREAM OUT’ AHEAD OF SPACE MAN RODEO EP RELEASE

Posted on: February 27th, 2017 by Scott Armstrong

As we near the release of Green Buzzard’s second EP Space Man Rodeo this Friday 3 March, I OH YOU are pleased to present a new single in celebration of the release this week. Premiering overnight on Richard Kingsmill’s 2017 on triple j, ‘Dream In/Out’ is the second single to be taken from the 10 track EP.

‘Dream In/Out’ was the final song/transmission the Arcadian Space Control ever received from Dewey Everglow’s lost spaceship, the SMR-77. From what they could gather, it seemed to be a song about escapism, a longing for “something new” and the insecurities Dewey faced about what his dreams would ultimately make of him.

Grab tickets to see Green Buzzard performing at Bad Friday alongside DMA’s, Royal Headache & more on Friday 14th April HERE.

MOSSY RELEASES NEW SINGLE ‘DUMB TERROR’ + REVEALS NEW VIDEO

Posted on: February 17th, 2017 by Scott Armstrong

I OH YOU is thrilled to present ‘Dumb Terror’, the new single from Sydney based artist MOSSY. The track was premiered on Sunday by Matt Wilkinson on Beats1.The single is accompanied by a thought provoking visual clip from revered Perth director Matt Sav (Tame Impala, San Cisco), which premiered overnight via Clash (UK). The collaboration came about after MOSSY sent the first mix to Sav… “Matt Sav emailed me about this video saying I want to beat the shit out of you, wrap you from head to toe like a mummy in shiny, reflective fabric, shine a giant spotlight in your dumb face and unravel you slowly for everyone to see. Naturally, I jumped at the opportunity!”

“I began writing ‘Dumb Terror’ on a flight to America. I was mucking around, recording the hum of the plane’s air conditioning through my laptop and then pitch-shifting it to make these strange sounding choral chords.

During this visit to New York I also recorded a conversation at a Black Lives Matter rally in Union Square between a police officer and a civilian, and ended up including it in the song as it seemed to fit in thematically.

For me, ‘Dumb Terror’ is about the never-ending conveyer belt of backwards politicians and our tendency to turn against each other instead of those with whom the power actually lies.”

FROTH OF THE DAY: ANNIE BASS – DON’T WANT

Posted on: February 7th, 2017 by Tom Hutchins

It’s been a minute since we’ve heard from Sydney’s Annabel Weston, aka Annie Bass, but prepare to be floored by her new single ‘Don’t Want’. Linking up with Garage supreme overlord, aka Porty, aka Chrissy Por Por (which I assume no one has ever called him before), aka Melbourne’s Christopher Port – the new jam is everything Aussie club music needs right now. With a jittering, 2-step beat backing the subdued vocal verses from Weston – ‘Don’t Want’ is your classic slow burner (classic in a good way of course). But as the warm synth lines stepping up surely, the vocals sharpen, Weston somehow manages to turn into quadruplets who can sing the finest melodies and Port really lets loose with the brilliant garage production he has been ramming into our brains for the last 12 months. With ‘Don’t Want’, Annie Bass has suddenly taken her sound from R&B-infused club centric jams to something a little darker, with a touch of serious emotional content – which in my opinion is the best kind of club music. I want to feel all of my feelings whilst nodding my head and staring at a stage.

‘Don’t Want’ is out now via all the usual streaming services.

GREEN BUZZARD REVEAL ‘NEVER LET ME GO’ + ANNOUNCE DETAILS OF UPCOMING SPACE MAN RODEO EP

Posted on: January 24th, 2017 by Scott Armstrong

‘Never Let Me Go’ is a rare love song written from the perspective of Dewey Everglow, an anti-hero from Mars. He sent it back to his home planet through an SOS beacon whilst lost in space on his ship, SMR-77. Many space years later, it was intercepted by The Arcadian Space Control on Mars, where it was then properly recorded by his band Green Buzzard. It then went on to become an unlikely anthem of sorts at his favourite bar, Space Man Rodeo.

GREEN BUZZARD RELEASE NEW SINGLE ‘DO YOU EVER GLOW?’

‘Do You Ever Glow?’ is the first single to be taken from a forthcoming EP. Recorded and mixed by Burke Reid (Courtney Barnett, DZ Deathrays), this single and forthcoming EP sees Green Buzzard really step things up a notch sonically… this new found production allows Paddy Harrowsmith’s pop sensibility to shine through in a way which it has yet to do. Speaking of the song, Harrowsmith had the following to offer: “Ayeeee… gather round wee children, let me tell you a tale from a looong looong time agooo. A time of myth and legend, where dragons soared high above and a song, of great power, was first sung . I was there, one of the few to hear it, and it goes a little like this….”
