Today’s featured track is the official Jon Hopkins remix of Disclosure’s widely rinsed ‘Magnets’, featuring New Zealand songstress Lorde. The term remix seems pretty loose here. Aside from the slowly rattling percussion into from the original, Hopkins has crafted something which manages to leave the original in its dust without even the slightest glance back. A labyrinth of off-kilter loops and mind bending tones usher in the remix’s monstrous second half, bringing together ecstatic elements of dubstep, techno and dare we say it, trance. Not one for the faint of heart, but wholly rewarding.
