Today’s featured release is a certified game changer. Melbourne band I’lls are back from (what feels like) a decent break from releasing music and playing live and have finally let us in on where the project is headed. This two-track EP titled Fifty-Phiphti / Asakusa, despite it’s brief nature, speaks volumes about where Simon, Dan and Hamish are capable of taking things over the next little while. ‘Fifty-Phihti’ is warm and melodic; a hearty mix of vocal samples interplay with pulsating synthesizers and delicate percussion nicely to create a driving feel. ‘Asakusa’ is the sound of this outfit well and truly finding it’s feet in a sonic sense. This is the one. Simon Lam’s vocals are used to punctuate and provide a fleeting yet almost tangible feeling of texture and light throughout – slowly using each pivotal moment to draw out new elements and evolve, clinging to the original structure and tone and lulling it’s listener in and out of consciousness.

I’lls will be playing the Paradise Festival from 28th-30th November. Lineup and ticketing information is HERE.

Melbourne is also lucky enough to be hosting the launch for this two-track release on November 6th at the Worker’s Club.
