I OH YOU first came into fruition when four teenage housemates received a final notice from their gas company and a bill which they didn’t have enough money to pay off. In a desperate last ditch effort to raise the necessary funds (and one of many unsuccessful attempts to impress girls) the friends decided to throw a house party at which Neon Love (RIP) and Comic Sans (RIP) both played at live….200 people (including the local police force) ended up coming and the housemates raised enough money to pay their utility bills for the next quarter.

Since that fateful December night in 2009, I OH YOU has quickly spanned far beyond the fences which border their suburban backyard.

I OH YOU has become one of Melbourne’s most loved party nights and in less than a year has gone on to host some of the best indie acts from not only Australia but the world including, Foals DJs, Yeasayer DJs, Radioclit DJs, Philadelphia Grand Jury and Last Dinosaurs. With hoards of supporters up and down the east coast the four friends have now begun to develop their brand beyond Melbourne and with the help of friends around the country have launched I OH YOU SYDNEY and I OH YOU BRISBANE.

I OH YOU have now also proven themselves as quite the musical taste makers by teaming up with their good friends at Shock Records to create an indie label known as I OH YOU RECORDS. To date I OH YOU have signed 3 Australian up an coming acts known as Howl, DZ Deathrays and Bleeding Knees Club, all of whom have since went on too receive high rotation on national radio, quickly become two of Australia’s most hyped young bands and ripped it up on the Australian touring and festival circuits with appearances with acts such as Wavves, Lightspeed Champion and festivals such as the BIG DAY OUT and FIELD DAY.

Not being the types of youth to slow down, the four friends have now moved on to their newest project – I OH YOU CREATIVE. Someone once told me that the best business ventures are the ones that happen by accident and that is exactly how I OH YOU CREATIVE came about. After industry folks noticing the creative skills of I OH YOU, the four friends began being hit up by managers/labels about the possibility of I OH YOU bringing in their fresh and youthful ideas to decorate venues for their touring acts – something which the housemates leaped at! On top of this, the friends (using the skills of their circle of friends) have also begun developing film clips and graphic design work which is proving to be a massive success!
