FRESH JUICE: HARRY JAY-STEELE – PEAKS OF MEILI

By March 17, 2017 April 11th, 2017 No Comments

As I’m sure all you frothers have noticed, March has been jam packed with dope new music. In the past fortnight a plethora of new and existing artists have bullied their brand spanker’s into my playlists, making the day-to-day froths rather difficult. With that said, London based guitarist/producer Harry-Jay Steele has forced my hand with a track off his debut EP, called Peaks of Meili.

The froth in discussion posses both the name and musical traits suitable for a spot on a Lord of the Rings/Hobbit soundtrack (you can almost picture Thorin and his squad of dwarves harmonising with Steele in Bilbo’s house by the fire). Steele’s style is very hard to categorise although Peaks of Meili has an electro-folk feel to it. With his meticulous attention to detail, Steele gradually layers his canvas with a diverse selection of electronic percussion and string-like samples that complement the hypnotic groove he creates with his guitar. Peaks of Meili shows us Steele’s versatility as an artist and has revealed a quirkier side to his music that we didn’t see in his debut single Reach You. Can’t wait to hear what a full length album will sound like.

Harry Jay-Steele’s EP dropped today and is available on all streaming services.
