Last month, we excitedly featured Melbourne alt-tronica/trip-hop/experimental duo ALTA and their superb ‘Stepping Out’ single. Since then, Julius Dowson and Hannah Lesser have taken a short break from the live setting to focus on the recently released ‘Game Broke Out’ EP, the long awaited follow-up to their debut ‘Stay Awhile’ EP. This 6-track effort exemplifies what all good EP’s should; it shows a mature diversity which is ambitious and it’s unafraid to cross genres. From ‘We Said Go’, which fuses trip-hop with ambient and UK sounds seamlessly, to the earthy guitar driven ‘Old Tricks’; Alta’s sound is unique and captivating and the intertwining elements of Lesser’s incredible voice with Dowson’s concise production is pure fire.
