Melbourne experimental duo Alta have been featured on the I OH YOU blog numerous times over the past 6 months, and today they’re back with their spellbinding new single ‘Wandering’. The single takes a step back from the frenetic sounds of the previously released ‘We Said Go’ however, and shifts the focus toward a more soulful and simplistic instrumental sound that centers on vocalist Hannah Lesser’s engrossing tones. Swirling vocal loops and dynamic percussive lines combine almost effortlessly to create an eerie sense of melancholy throughout on this one. The release of Wandering isn’t the first we’ve heard from Alta in 2014 however, at the beginning of the year the duo were hand picked to support UK act Bonobo in Melbourne resulting in a flurry of positive reviews. We’re sure this won’t be the last we hear from these two in the coming months!
