Today’s feature comes to us care of Leeds band Eagulls and their track ‘Possessed’. This is a band which has been gaining some considerable hype in all the right places overseas; the track was premiered on NME and they’re currently paired up with recent visitors to Australia and long time friends Parquet Courts for a tour in the UK. Possessed is a track which immediately grabbed us because of the unique space which it inhabits – there’s an almost overbearing wash of droning, fuzzed out lo-fi elements but they’re held perfectly by a firm melody which almost gives the feel of a pop song. It’s UK garage rock music which incorporates plenty of abrasive punk elements into the mix without ever being too overbearing. We think that’s pretty fucking cool.
Eagulls will release their debut LP on March 3rd through Partisian Records.
