Melbourne outfit Foreign/National shared their third single for the year last week, releasing the slow burning ‘Pacific Cruise’. While retaining their usual spread of crunching, saturated instrumentation, the band again nod lovingly toward slow-burning Motown classics in Pacific Cruise’s skittering and bullish rhythm section. It’s a clinical exercise in orchestrating harmonic tension and release, whilst maintaining a level of sweetly sung fatalism throughout. The latest entry in their production partnership with Joey Walker (King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard), Pacific Cruise stands out as a sure fire winner.
