FROTH OF THE DAY: GOLDLINK- PRAY EVERYDAY (SURVIVOR’S GUILT)

By March 21, 2017 No Comments

GoldLink truly does posses the Midas touch. Since we first heard the D.C based rapper’s high pitched vocals spray at uzi speed on his debut LP The God Complex, it was pretty clear that the then 20-year-old rapper had a lot more to say. Which brings me to todays froth: Pray Everyday (Survivor’s Guilt).

Pray Everyday sees GoldLink verbalise his internal struggle of fighting off his “demons” with prayer, solitude and booze as he raps “drinkin drinkin drinkin all my problems, I don’t need nobody I just need my bottle that’s for certain”. Link’s introspective confession weaves through Sevn Thomas’ trap/bass heavy production until the track fades into a murky haze which perhaps audibly represents some of the feelings Link expresses in the song. GoldLink’s growth as an artist has been a pleasure to witness and his third album, which drops later in the week, will undoubtedly validate Link’s reputation as one of the most creative talents in contemporary hip-hop.

Today’s froth marks the third offering from GoldLink’s forthcoming album, At What Cost which comes out THIS FRIDAY! (24-3)
