Melbourne duo Indian Summer labelled the time between their Late Nite EP and the release of today’s featured tune ‘a long time between drinks’. This one definitely goes to show that good things come to those who wait. Their next crop of tunes is led by ‘Been Here Before’, featuring the vocal stylings of Wollongong’s Eloise Cleary. Skittish beats underpin a welcome smattering of uptempo, new wave synths – working in (and out) of sync to instil the sense that there’s organised chaos playing out as each second passes. Cleary shines, exhibiting her self described brand of ‘metlting pop’ via some slinky R’n’B phrasing and instantly recognisable hooks. It’s a step up in every possible way for the duo. Perhaps Indian Summer aren’t done with 2016 just yet – and we’ll be waiting for more when it comes.
