LISTEN: Lone – Reality Testing LP
This week saw the much anticipated premiere of Nottingham producer Lone’s sixth studio LP, Reality Testing. Thanks to THUMP, you can check a full stream of the album which includes the previously released ‘2 Is 8’ and last year’s floor filling ‘Airglow Fires’. The release takes an assured leap into what can only really be described as cosmic, instrumental hip-hop. There’s an engrossing sense of progression which exists at the heart of these tracks; ‘Meeker Warm Energy’ shows shades of J Dilla whilst ‘Aurora Northern Quarter’ brings a seamless marriage of Chicago house, Detroit techno and ambient modern beats productions. Don’t sleep on this one.
