Never one to rest on his laurels, last week saw Mac Demarco release his 2015 mini-LP Another One. The album has been playing out since earlier this year across a few sublime singles here and there – ‘The Way You’d Love Her’ struck home as a longing ballad, but it never wallowed or dragged on; rather it was a cathartic exercise which was as self aware as ever. This is par for the course across the 8 track player. Whilst the record certainly harks back to a few trademark sonic cornerstones, Demarco excels and finds new ground on Another One. Lyrically and with a refined vision and clarity – this could be his best and most personal release to date.
