Roland Tings was a true pioneer in the landscape of Australian dance music in the year 2015; his self-titled full length debut brought a refreshing mix of tropical house, field recordings and funky, driving basslines to dancefloors and radio stations across the country before it was even time to think about filing a tax return. Following on from his heralded performances on the Listen Out tour, Tings returned this week with a new jam – his sights firmly set on looking forward in order to evolve the project. ‘Hedonist’ is the first glimpse of a forthcoming EP, set for release in early 2016 via the newly minted Soothsayer label.
