We didn’t think we’d be hearing from SBTRKT so soon! Having wrapped up one of the more expansive world tours off the back of his stunning self titled debut LP, the masked producer released an unmixed/unmastered song which was made available for streaming in YouTube this weekend past. The track is a short lived glimpse into how LP number two may be shaping up, and hits the mark as a melodic track with employs subtle electronica paired with deep percussion to create an atmospheric feel. This is a sound which certainly builds from the first album and unsurprisingly doesn’t feature vocals after the announcement that vocalist Sampha would no longer be touring or collaborating for the project. SBTRKT himself had a few words to say, noting that the song was “new music from my album recordings (un mixed/mastered). In memory of my brother Daniel.” In keeping with the off the cuff nature of the release, he also noted “p.s its not a ‘single’/ planned campaign/ album promo hype thing. just music i want to share.”
