‘Cause I’m A Man’ is one of four stellar already released singles from Perth outfit Tame Impala’s forthcoming Currents LP and has grabbed a huge amount of attention thus far in its own right. Written, performed, recorded produced and mixed by Kevin Parker in Fremantle, the single takes a step away from the soaring heights of March’s eclectic ‘Let It Happen’ release and into a new groove – the twisting and turning, R’n’B inspired bassline sets the tone for one of the more sombre moments recorded to tape for the project thus far. A tale of bitter remorse, laced with self awareness and yet somehow still stinging with a sense of uncompromising denial, Parker shines in a vocal sense on this one – it’s a standout for sure. The official video takes a sharp dive into a highly conceptual 3D world where seemingly anything goes. It’s totally bizarre yet visually so pleasing, but hey, what’d you expect?
Tame Impala’s Currents will be released on July 17th via Interscope Records.
