As their fifth studio album V fast approaches, Wavves are kicking into gear and reminding us why their 2013 album Afraid of Heights cemented them as one of our favourite modern pop punk acts. ‘Way Too Much’ is a rollicking single that showcases the collaborative work of Nathan Williams, Stephen Pope and Alex Gates together for the first time. Palatable, stirring and brutally honest; Way Too Much is everything we’ve come to love about the way Wavves craft pop music into the punk rock mould. The Woody Jackson directed video isn’t for the faint of heart – shot at an Underground Empire Wrestling event, it cuts between footage of the band belting out the track with a spirited match (apparently a passion of frontman Williams’). Intense, but fucking great.
