As a teenager I grew up being heavily into pop punk/punk rock (to this day, my favourite band of all time is The Ataris). I spent every Sunday afternoon possible at some shitty venue in Penrith (NSW) jumping around at AA shows. I was literally obsessed with not only the bands that played (even the shit ones) but went even further to obsess over the label which perhaps drove the scene back then, Below Par Records.

Below Par Records was an Australian punk label created by three 16 year old friends, they went on to sign acts like Kisschasy, The Scare, Something With Numbers, Soft Tigers and many more. They were fucking dope and gave a leg up to some sweet ass bands….I really hope that one day we will be able to deliver that same assistance to some of the great acts going around at the moment.

I remember using my dial up internet at home when I was 14 to email them and ask them to explain to me how I could put on a punk show at my local hall, mad props to them for actually taking the time to reply to everyone one of my ‘But how do I…?’ emails. Check out their EPK below!
