Anna Burch is a reaalllllly exciting new singer-songwriter who has emerged out of Detroit’s thriving music scene in the last few months. In the past, AB has played alongside groups like Failed Flowers and Frontier Ruckus before taking the brave step away from these revered Indie outfits to embrace her eponymous solo project. And boy are we glad she made this decision. Whilst her song’s to date can be counted on one hand, early signs indicate we can also count on plenty more redhot tracks like today’s Juice – Asking 4 a Friend.
If you’re in the vast majority of Australian Indie music fans and rock out to artists like Alex Lahey and Body Type then Anna Burch is right up your alley. Gradually, guiding her guitar out of the abyss, Burch does a nice job in paring the introductory riff with metaphorical implications of an encumbering toxic relationship. Each line in Asking 4 a Friend is elongating placing emphasis on the angsty lyrics that make up today’s Juice whilst also highlighting Burchs vocal capabilities. Dig your heels into this forthright falsetto-laden cracker and be sure to keep an eye out for new music by Anna Burch.
