FRESH JUICE: GOOD DOOGS – NOBODY/ALONE

By February 18, 2019 No Comments

If you knew me (or took the time to get to know me, you pricks), you’d know that I probably wouldn’t be the kind of person that would get into bands that sound a bit like [REDACTED] or are often lumped in with [REDACTED] (want to stress that this is based just on tastes, not actually trying to throw shade at bands I didn’t even have the guts to list publicly), but there’s something that I can’t deny whenever a Good Doogs song swings through my algorithmic playlists (may as well let the robots decide what I should like, they’ll take over eventually anyway).  It probably has something to do with the lack of really shit hot surf rock songs around these days, ala the glory days of Wavves. ‘Nobody/Alone’ is another prime example of this, a fast-paced, slightly depressing track that speaks to my tendencies of wanting to be left alone most of the time (sorry to my long-term partner). I think one of the smartest things about Good Doogs, is their ability to throw down these rough-as-guts pieces of music, but retain catchy, melodic structures. And in an age of really lazy music of a similar ilk (see, [REDACTED]), it’s bloody refreshing.

‘Nobody/Alone’ is out now.
