Ever since La Roux fell off the face of the earth and M83’s last album was a pile of flaming garbage (don’t @ me), I thought that your straight up and down synthpop was officially #dead. BUT (guess where I’m going here), Niterunner have gone and brought the whole game back! ‘Stay Tonight’ has the familiar stuttering underlying synths, alongside some gorgeous vocal teamwork that would literally make M83 tremble. Part Drive soundtrack (because who doesn’t love it?) and part intelligent pop music – this Byron Bay via Brisbane band have made one hell of a blissful burst onto the scene with this one. I’ll stay tonight, please and thanks.

‘Stay Tonight’ is out now via Stoney Roads Records.
