FRESH JUICE: PRESS CLUB – HEADWRECK

By May 29, 2017 No Comments

Head banging can be pretty taxing on the ol dome. Whether it be punk, metal or any other brand of heavy/fast paced music, certain songs- whether it be subconsciously or instinctively- force you to try and match the vitality of the sounds you hear with your noggin, thus leaving your head a little wrecked the following day; a small price to pay for good music. With that in mind, take the title of today’s juice as a warning. Headwreck is the debut single from Melbourne four-piece Press Club and should be enough to get your engines going for the week ahead.

Today’s featured track is a raw, rough edged rock song which doesn’t really give you much breathing space. Simulating a live show, the video simulates a live show with a camera that weaves in and out of the band dancing and thrashing above the glamour of Hollywood vanity lights illuminating each band member. Whilst Headwreck is short-lived and pretty simple, the Brunswick natives manage to deliver a powerful blow both lyrically and sonically. Addressing the crippling emotions associated with toxic relationships the band match the angst, anger and pace of the lyrics they play beneath, creating a very cool debut single. Hopefully a follow up album/single is in tow but you can wreck your head to this in the meantime.
