You’ll play today’s Juice once, figure out which playlist(s) it belongs in, then proceed to play it – well I don’t know how many times but I can guess it’ll be a fuck load. The track I’m referring too is Skegss’ new one – Up In The Clouds. Over the weekend I was fortunate enough to see the Byron-based three-piece live at Groovin the Moo and it was by far one of the standout sets. Fair warning to those who haven’t yet seen a Skegss show, don’t be fooled by the saccharine vocals and ethereal melodies, their live shows are packed with passionate, lively fans that spread mosh pits to every corner of the crowd.
Up In The Clouds is the perfect track for a Sunday afternoon. The simple guitar melody that greets you at the beginning of the piece serves as the perfect platform for lead singer Ben Ben Bograil’s growly, introspective vocal delivery. Bograil addresses the difficulties associated with coming of age and getting caught up in the “heat of the moment”, something we can all relate too. Considering today’s Juice is less than a week old it was pretty damn impressive to see fans singing along to the lyrics at Groovin. If you want see Skegss live you’re in luck as they’ll be touring all major cities in June when they return from a nmonth long UK tour! If you haven’t already got a ticket I’d suggest you snag one pronto before they sell out. Deets below.
