FRESH JUICE: THIRTY DAYS OF YES

By November 13, 2017 No Comments

I just wanted to use today’s Fresh Juice to big up the recent ‘Thirty Days of Yes’ release. After taking a quick look through the recent archives, we really haven’t spent time talking about what has been an incredible release of music from legendary local musicians. And with the result of the Australian Marriage Law Postal Survey due this week, what better time than now to talk about it.

The release was developed in response to the survey, to drive the ‘Yes’ message and show support for the LGBTQI+ community, particularly the youth community who don’t have a voice in this public debate. 100% of the profits have and will continue go to LGBTQI+ youth organisations, Minus18 and Twenty10. Over the thirty day period, which wrapped up a few weeks ago, we were treated to forty-bloody-nine exclusive tracks, casting a wide as fuck net across our musical landscape. With names like LIARS, The Ocean Party, Lucianblomkamp, Rainbow Chan, Body Type, Julia Jacklin, HABITS, Sui Zhen, Courtney Barnett and Jen Cloher jumping on board – this is one of the strongest compilations of Australian music I’ve ever come across. And it’s been amazing to see the level of support from artists, to labels, to punters etc thrown behind the project and the cause it represents.

If you haven’t yet, buy the record for only $15 (or more if you are legend with heaps of disposable income) and let’s play this thing fucking loud when the Yes vote comes through on Wednesday. #LoveIsLove
