LISTEN: Big Scary X Jonti – Slumming It In Paradise
Adidas Originals and Noisy have teamed up to bring two of Australia’s most exciting artists together to create a track as part of a campaign which seeks to promote creativity across genres and countries in the collaborative form. The track, titled ‘Slumming It In Paradise’, is a warm and unique effort which effortlessly blends off kilter electronica with robust percussion and really takes on a life of it’s own with duelling vocal verses. There’s a bunch of different elements which come into play throughout the track, giving the feel of something tied together from samples yet also maintaining the cohesiveness which we’re so used to from both artists.
Tom Iansek from Big Scary was optimistic after the proposal, and said “We’re always up to be challenged creatively and have taken the general stance never to pass up an opportunity to learn and play and record,”. Jonti shared the sentiment, saying that “The excitement of collaboration was pretty enticing, especially with artists you like, but have absolutely zero preconceived perception of how it’s going to go.” There’s definitely some spark in this collaboration and with more pairings in store, it will be an interesting opportunity to see a glimpse into some otherwise unlikely collaborations.
