The last time we heard new material from Death From Above 1979, it was the year 2004 and the only thing more devastating than their album You’re A Woman, I’m A Machine was the fact that the television show Friends was coming to an end. It’s a long time, right? Never fear, today they’ve released the first single from their forthcoming sophomore album The Physical World, which is aptly titled ‘Trainwreck 1979’. Having taken inspiration and motivation from their 2011 reunion tour (including Parklife around Australia), Sebastian and Jessie have returned with a lead single that truly revels in the band’s original sound whilst surging forward, finding a sweet contrast between heavier rock elements and danceable electronica.
