A new, unreleased track from English producer/dj/remixer/wonderkid Jamie XX has surfaced overnight following a recorded mix from The XX’s Night + Day event in Berlin earlier this year. The currently untitled work marks the first glimpse of new music in some time from Jamie in solo mode, and combines raw samples and organic percussion lines with an underlying atmospheric soundscape throughout. Whilst there are some familiar elements contained here, there’s a clear sense of creative progression and the dynamic interplay of each slow-burning element creates a sense of movement and intrigue. Jamie XX plays the St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival early next year, we’ll be giving this one plenty of spins in the lead up, no doubt!
