Following on from his 2010 debut EP ‘A Moot Point’ on John Talabot’s Hivern Discs label, Spanish young-gun Pional has released the first cut from the forthcoming INVISIBLE/AMENAZA EP. The track is patient and slowly builds as airey synths and crisp percussion flank the locked groove, producing a feel of well timed momentum. There’s an incredible use of space in this track, it’s not even until halfway through that Pional himself can be heard singing and it works to spectacular effect. The EP is out on Young Turks, a label which has arguably been one of the most prominent independent record labels to come out of the UK in the last decade, having been home to The XX, SBTRKT, John Talabot, Koreless and Sampha amongst others. With releases like this, it feels like summer is just around the corner.
