Following on from his widely hyped, self titled debut release on Neon Gold Records, St. Lucia yesterday gave us ‘When The Night’, an LP which immediately caught our attention in the office. Today we feature his stunning track ‘Wait For Love’, which seamlessly draws a clear lineage between the more percussive elements of traditional South Afrian music with the euphoric and polished feeling of glam-pop. Speaking with Zan Rowe this morning on triple j, Jean-Philip Grobler expressed that the intention behind much of the production was to touch on classic “guilty pleasure” pop aesthetics, but with a more bass driven, layered approach. We say mission accomplished! Displaying some serious vocal range and the ability to produce more than a catchy hook, this album sets the scene for a summer tour which feels just around the corner.
St. Lucia’s new album ‘When The Night’ is available now through iTunes.
