This evening on the blog we’re featuring a tune we haven’t been able to stop spinning since Sunday. ‘Cause I’m A Man’ is the latest effort from Perth outfit Tame Impala and it has grabbed a huge amount of attention this week (and rightly so) in the lead-up to LP number three. Written, performed, recorded produced and mixed by Kevin Parker in Fremantle, the single takes a step away from the soaring heights of March’s eclectic ‘Let It Happen’ release and into a new groove – the twisting and turning, R’n’B inspired bassline sets the tone for one of the more sombre moments recorded to tape for the project thus far. A tale of bitter remorse, laced with self awareness and yet somehow still stinging with a sense of uncompromising denial, Parker shines in a vocal sense on this one – it’s a standout for sure.
