Since first experimenting with electronic production at 14 years of age, leading to the subsequent release of his two independent EPs and debut 7″, Velvet (Life Aquatic Records, 2011), Melbourne producer Naminé, aka Darcy Baylis, has been anything but slack in his musical endeavours. Transcending the usual confines of “chillwave”, as its often been labelled, Naminé’s modest catalogue offers a look inside the bare, intensely raw emotions of an adolescent. Though perfectly transient in its lyrical and thematic focus, Baylis’ voice filters through as strikingly honest and universal – giving it the timeless quality of pure, brooding pop music. Celestia is the first single off the debut LP Celestial Love, which is being released through Melbourne’s own Bossman Records.
