Melbourne favourites ‘World’s End Press’ recently traveled to the the UK and dived into the studio with producer and DFA co-founder Tim Goldsworthy (Delphic, The Maccabees) to record their highly anticipated debut LP. For years now WEP have been hovering in the Australian music community – particularly the Melbourne scene and picking up hoards of fans with their infectious dance tracks and nothing short of amazing live show. To date, I always felt as though it would be a struggle to recreate the intensity of the band’s live show on record…however with the first taste of the forthcoming record arriving in the form of ‘Deadbeat Sweetheart’ – a jam that falls just shy of the 7min mark – I feel as though they may have finally captured it. Deadbeat Summer features all things that are great about WEP, John Parkinson’s brooding vocals and on point lyrics, chugging bass and swirling synths. Ok, I’m going to stop gushing like an idiot.
