With support from all the big players in the house scene such as Resident Advisor, DFA Records and Ghostly, AceMo is rising the ranks. But the career of Adrian Mojica is about to take off with an endorsement from the only movement that really matters: I OH YOU*. The New York producer dropped the All My Life LP in January, a kaleidoscopic journey of lo-fi house, afro-beat and sampletronica. To be honest, words aren’t enough to describe the release, but it’s trippy goodness.
The centrepiece, and the newly crowned Fresh Juice, is the eight-minute bongo-bouncin’ ‘Myrtle Ave. Party Track’. It starts unassumingly with lo-fi filtered synths, but hang in there, as the greatness soon develops. Ace brings in the kick-drum and a droning synth to build up the suspense, before the metallic hi-hats and ground-shaking bass break the track open. And that’s just at the two-minute mark. Soon enough, the high-energy African drums are dropped in and we’re dancing all night long, baby. I dunno where Myrtle Ave. is, but I wanna be there. I guess Glamorama will do.
