One of the only ‘old’ indie bands that I have really stuck with is Everything Everything. I can’t really put my finger on why, and I’m sure a lot of you out there will disagree massively with my choice, not only to continue to like them – but to also be writing about them now. But also, this is my article and I’ll do what I want. Anyway, the British four-piece are back with ‘Can’t Do’, which is just a bona fide a+ straight up and down art-pop hit. To be honest this might be one of the band’s least adventurous singles, buuuut there is still an air of passion and a mass of raw energy that Everything Everything bring to the table every damn time and that is so hard to ignore. Actually I think I’ve stuck with them because they’ve always developed, they’ve always changed elements that breathe new life into their strange-yet-familiar arrangements. This new track might not be your next Pitchfork-y hype tune, but it sounds rich, vibrant and is a tonne of fun. Get around it below.
The new Everything Everything LP, A Fever Dream, will be out August 8 via RCA.
