Danish producer Galimatias has done us all a favour by breaking his two-year drought, dropping two new bangers within the last week, the latest of which is our Tuesday Freshy. Working out of LA, our featured artist seems to be picking up where he left off. Delving deep into trip hop’s rabbit hole Galimatias has excavated a rather delicate number titled Blowback. Now If you’re unfamiliar with Galimatias music then I implore you to be patient as today’s Juice is a slow burner that requires a minute or two to warm up.
Sampling one of his favourite artists in Barbara Lewis, Galimatias has remixed the unlikely 1963 doo- woping hit single Hello Stranger. Fused with a pulsating, unsteady bass, a few soulful chords on piano, some sporadic, Gramatik-like arrangments and of course, the recurring chorus of Hello Stranger, Galimatias reminds us that he’s still ahead of the game in 2017. The R&B inspired vocals have a strong impact on Blowback but eventually make way for Lewis’ soothing voice to carry the song into the sunset. Dig in below.
