If there are two things I love in this terrible thing we call life, it’s 1) Hot Bread and 2) Jay Som. So do you reckon I’ve been getting around the new track by Jay Som, named ‘Hot Bread’? Jay Som is creating some of the most enjoyable guitar pop right now, with oddly beautiful lyrics about normal life things, alongside stupidly catchy instrumentation and for this new cut, things have not changed and I am here for it. Written as a ‘love song’ for one of Amazon’s upcoming Valentine’s Mixtapes (yep, there is two) (and they already feature hot loving cuts from people like Common Holly, Baths and Dr. Dog), but is actually moreso about having a one night stand with a former lover. So, yeah, the content is a bit murkier. Overall, the track toes the line between a melancholy vibe and vibrant as heck instrumentation. It’s another one that just deals with normal bullshit life stuff and feelings, and damn, she’s bloody good at writing about thins kind of thing. Another #HotTake.
