Marlon Williams and Aldous Harding’s new track is the missing piece in this weeks puzzle. If you’re feeling a little rusty from the weekend, then consider today’s Juice your WD 40. If you’re feeling as though things aren’t exactly going your way at work then Harding and Williams are here to remind you that Nobody Gets What they Want Anymore, so don’t fret! Whilst that last sentence reads like a satirical advertisement for a dodgy work insurance company called Harding and Williams, it is, in fact, the name of today’s featured track.
Nobody Gets What They Want Anymore is a reserved duet that shows off just how spectacular both artists are as vocalists. There is a clear chemistry between Aldous and Marlon. Individually their voices are quite different but when joined in harmony the similarities between the two become a lot more prevalent. Both artists naturally sound harrowing and have the ability to really make you feel the sadness in their voice, kinda like Roy Orbison. Whilst today’s Juice places a strong emphasis on the vocals there is also a lot going on behind the scenes that is partly responsible for this ballads beauty. The lo-fi strumming you can hear early on grounds Nobody Gets What They Want Anymore but also paves the way for a light pitter patter on the drums and some ethereal synth work. Harding and Williams have gone ahead and contradicted themselves because this is EXACTLY what I want.
