Westerman seems to remind me of a lot of different artists all at once, but I also can’t really put my finger on any of them. What I do know is that he is in this new generation of hectically talented songwriters (for quick context, I would put D.D. Dumbo in that same calendar) that are rising above what is expected from an alternative-skewed pop artist. His latest single ‘Easy Money’ moulds retro instrumentation (it feels like straight out of the 80s) with 2018 production sensibilities (produced by Bullion, of course) and his raw, slightly imperfect vocals. The track is full of subtle touches and nuances that build to one hell of a catchy jam… Oooh, I kinda hear Gotye a bit on this listen. Nice.
