LISTEN: Nile Delta – Aztec (12” Version)

Cutters Records has for a long time been a discerning Melbourne based dance music label with a penchant for great house and disco releases. With a formidable label lineup featuring the likes of Knightlife, Das Moth, Voltage and more – it’s no surprise that today we feature a house release from one of our favorite Melbourne producers. This is Nile Delta’s third release on the label, and hits the mark as a seamlessly produced, organic follow-up to the vinyl only ‘Dance To The Rhythm’ (which we still play in most DJ sets). ‘Aztec’, featuring John Parkinson from Melbourne’s World’s End Press, is driven by tribal percussion lines and surges to dizzying heights with sharp, layered synth work and an unmissable vocal melody in the chorus. The track’s burgeoning acid feel shines through and that classic Nile Delta percussion is exactly what we craved when we saw this release. Featuring two blistering remixes from the likes of Melbourne’s own Roland Tings and Hivern Discs golden boy Pional, this is a home grown EP which extends well beyond the strength of the original and each remix truly succeeds in a bright re-imagination of the original.

Aztec is available now for purchase through iTunes and Juno.

The Cutters Records launch party for Aztec is on Friday 11th October at Boney in Melbourne + features Nile Delta, Cut Copy DJs, Otologic and World’s End Press DJs – Tickets here
